Hi,

I am looking for a website to learn C++ and visual basic. Does anybody have a suggestion?

Thanks.

Kiran,

That is a very large statement with so few words, but Here is a really useful web site where you can pick up good bits of code for various uses. I have used it to figure out a thing or two in the past.

Kiran,

I think learning from Websites is not a very good Idea.Its good for Introduction but I guess it lacks the depth of a particular topic.
What kinda applications you planning to get into ? Industrial/Business/Web ??
I guess you are interested in Industrial Applications as you are a member of PLCs.net
Microsoft Press has a very good book (oops i forgot the name :() something like Visual Basic for Industrial Automation. I will try to find out ISBN for you.Also i came across this one "Creating Human Machine Interfaces Using Visual Basic"(www.industrialvb.com) price:$100 !! Damn !! Books are very very costly in USA :(
You can get same book in India for less than 10% of the US price .They are reprinted in India and called LPE (Low Price Edition) so good books are always on my shopping list in my India Trip.
I wish i can bring a container full of books from India and sell them on eBay/Half.com Shortcut to become a Millionaire lol ;)
Anyways too Off the Topic !!
Nowdays I am developing a Fully object oriented control system using C++ and came across some nice books like...

1) Object Oriented Programming using C++
Author: E.Balgurusamy ( Available in India only)
Kiran,your name sounds Indian so i guess you can get this one somehow from India.This book is "THE BEST" for C++ beginners

2) C++ FAQs ***
Author: Marshall P. Cline, Greg A. Lomow, Mike Girou
*** Must Read by every C++ Programmer

3) Thinking in C++
Author: Bruce Eckel LPE available in India

3) Standard C++ Bible
Author: Al Stevens LPE available in India

4) Modern C++ Design
Author: Andrei Alexandrescu
Note: This book is for Advanced C++ Programmers

and finally the one from Father of C++

5) The C++ Programming Language
Author: Bjarne Stroustrup LPE available in India
Note: This book has A-Z of C++ but i hate the way this guy writes :( He makes simple stuff more complex.He should learn how to write a book from E. Balgurusamy

Hope this will help ??

This is a completely FREE Visual Basic online tutorial for beginners and intermediate users. http://www.vbtutor.net/
also try http://www.vbexplorer.com/VBExplorer/VBExplorer.asp

A C++ tutorial that cover from basics up to object oriented programming with C++ programming language. http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/

also: http://www.functionx.com/cpp/

As Rajan said kiran, there are no alternatives to books. E.Balgurusamy is truly a good book for biginners and so is 'C++ complete reference' by Herbert Schildt.
For advanced reading 'Effective C++' and 'More Effective C++' by Scott Meyers is highly recommended.
