Micrologix 1500 relay bad?

One of the relays in a micrologix 1500 has welded shut. It's controling a 24 volt motor starter coil. Can these be serviced? It's in an automatic carwash and if I have to replace the whole unit can I copy the logic to another 1500 so I don't have to go to the oem?

Yes

If you have the software to upload the program. Or if it has a memory module.

I don't know if it can be serviced or not, hopefully someone that does know will jump in.

To add to tarik1978's comments surge protection and I always use slave relays for this kind of application. Much easier to change the slave relay.

If you have one spare relay available you can use it but you have to change the program.
Also it's good practice to put a free wheel diode across the coil to extend the life of the relay.

Depends on how the OEM protected it. Password? ( can you get it?)
OEM lock , you will need the OEM.

Do you have a backup of the program? If so, can you open it with RSLogix500?

If it is a ML1500 then you can replace the base unit and keep the CPU.

So you do not need any software.

If you know how to use a soldering iron it shouldn't take more that 10 minutes to replace the faulty relay.
