At this link, click on the x input/y output bit map. From what I am understanding it is telling me that V40400 will be used for slot 0 if the module is an input and v40500 if the module in slot 0 is an output. Is this correct? It continues as v40401 and v40501 for slot 1, and so on...

If you want to use the 16 input bits (X0 - X17) as a single numeric word then use V40400. Similarly if you want to address the 16 output bits (Y0 - Y17) as a single numeric output then use V40500.

They aren't different locations, just different ways of looking at the same area.
