going back to the ipad posts, is it possible to create an Ad-Hoc on the laptop and remote desktop from your iphone/ipad on that if there isn't a WI-FI network available?

I believe so, but its something that I haven't yet tried to do..

ive tried using team viewer and the laptop wont allow me to remote in without an internet connection, it doesnt allow a username/password until a connection is present.

maybe there is some other free software that allows this?

Use a RDP app. Teamviewer should work over a lan though.

Quick note, You have to use the /console or /admin flag w/ RDP if you want to get to the RsLinx console remotely.

RsLinx Classic won't open up for config unless you're logged into the console session in my experience.
Not an issue if you're rdp'ing into an Xp or Win7 machine, but it becomes important on a Server 2003,2008 machine.

I never knew that. But I do try to use RDP as well as have something like logmein or VNC on the machin and in some cases all 3 they al have thier pros/cons.
