Okay guys I work for a bunch of ego maniacs. I have designed a system which I have been asking about doing for weeks with no response from management. I found out today the main ego maniac has been using my design to try and do it without me. I also diagnosed a Machine we got second hand which the program was deleted. I told them all I need is the PLC-2 Software to rewrite it but I was told they were going to have specialists come in and do it for $8000.00 because this guy convinced the boss the PLC is bad when he doesnt know anything about PLCs. Since then the machine has been sitting for 3 weeks untouched.

At this point I have something to prove and I am willing to buy the cable but I would really need to get my hands on the software for free. I heard there may be a freeware version of this software to use with for an old PLC-2/15 and windows 7 or Vista.

At this point I need to exposed this guy for his recklessness and prove he is full of it.

Can anyone help me out?

yeah thankx. This is the software I actually recomended to them to get incase the program was lost. So we could back it up. They agreed to getting it before we got the used machine with the erased program. But now that the guy that tries to control everything with the machines know this is what I need to fix this machine he has somehow convince the boss that we dont need it. So I need to get it myself but I cant fork out money because I did this in the past and it took months to be reimbursed. In fact I almost didnt get reimburst. But I had to go this far to put the project toghther to show the boss it worked because this jerk I work with was trying to keep me from looking like I can do something he cant do.

If I can get this software I can exposed this guys recklessness of spending the companies money just due to his ignorance and fear of not looking like a hero in every senerio. Its crazy I have been sitting around with my thumb up my but for a week when I could be working on 4 projects I designed. But this guy single handedly keeps sabatouging them. And the boss is not much better.

Is there anyway to borrow this program from someone?

I think you are an overly dedicated employee who is headed for a nervous breakdown.

You made your recommendation and got overridden. Shut up sit back and watch the carnival and the clowns. Hard to do I know. Sometimes I was able to keep my mouth shut and sit back and watch the fun. Sometimes not.

If your input is not worth to them, is time for a new job. Communications is imperative for a successful company.

Your all right but I literally have nothing too do. Im bored out of my mind. Im just trying to be productive to satisfy my ADD. A new job yes. But due to me being entry level I need to stick it out another year to move up. But me being entry level to move up I need experience. I take it personal because this guy is robbing me of my experience thus screwing with my future. I have 3 degrees(A.S.) degrees and almost at 3 years experience(if you count this place). I get paid $12.00 an hour. I have interviewed for other jobs but they ask me things that I dont know due to lack of experience. Everytime I get a chance to get that experience I prevent from it. So yes its frustrating. Nervous breakdown nah. When I leave here I dont even think about this place. So no solutions? That sucks I guess Im just going to have to go grease the machines. LOL

I shut up most of the time but when a guy is trying to track down wire number 2 becuase he thinks its the input wire from a limit switch and doesnt understand the concept that the number 2 wire is the nuetral and goes to every sensor on the machine and he is actually looking to track number 17. Thats when I cant shut up. He doesnt even understand the concept of a nuetral and actually shorted a 120V jumper wire on the machine and it shot sparks up in the air. It was a clown show indeed.:ROFLMAO: but also dangerous thats when I walked away because he was just jumpering all over the place he didnt even know where he was jumpering. Remember he does not understand the concept of a nuetral. o_O:cry:

I understand about not having the experience is always hard to get a job without experience, but 12 bucks an hour that's seems like a low blow to the liver, with three AS you should be able to get into a good paying job even if it means relocating, at least here in Houston, since I am looking myself too, I have seen many jobs that can get you in with an AS degree, if he would have done that here sparking cables he would have been fire for sure, safety is always first, and well shorting a cable without looking at the schematic or diagrams is not a very good troubleshooting practice. Just for fyi do you guys have a simple list of I/O of your machine? That's helps to troubleshoot a lot faster, if you don't have one in place already, make up a drawing of the machine, or a list, if you have the wire numbers too. If he makes 12 bucks an hour too, I wouldn't expect too much out of him, concentrate on what do you need to do to make the next step in your career. My first job after the navy, I saw many clowns at this factory won't say which one, but they used to throw sensors, and photoeyes like it was nothing, many times they were good, but they always blamed the sensors, when if fact the machine needed a reset or home everything back in place to restart. After a while a suggested to my supervisor, that we needed something to test sensors because we were spending lots of money, so we got this cool banner sensor test box, and we saved a lot of money.

I have seen a supervisor, get a huge arc flash because he was pushing a coil on a starter that wouldn't come on, after a few times it got so hot, I caught a glimpse of a good arc flash, what happen was that somebody put a 24dc coil instead of ac coil. Many people know the basic concept but lack the common sense of troubleshooting.

I learned Programming on these with a T2 (or was it T1?) terminal.
IIRC, the 2/15 has an EEPROM, how did they lose the program if the CPU is not bad?

been there, done that

First, a stupid question: are you sure the program is erased ? A trick that I learned with the PLC-2 was to turn the keyswitch to Off, and then back to Run/Program. Sometimes the CPU halts, and this re-starts it.
I worked at a shop where I was told by the self-proclaimed Robotic Welding Experts that I didn't know what-the-f*** I was doing. These guys didn't know what a stepper routine in a spot welder was. Or that the termination type for a robot spot weld move must be 'fine'. And on and on. And I heard, after I left, that the PLC-2 machine was scrapped because the processor halted again.
Try reading the book 'How to work for a jerk'. It changed my perspective.

It sounds like the employers are looking for the wrong thing. Someone with the willingness and desire to learn is always far more valuable than someone with lots of experience but no motivation to learn new things.

All companies have a variety of equipment. Let's say a company has 10 different machines. They find someone with experience in 7 of those machines and someone else that only has experience with 1. Who is going to be most valuable? At first reaction most would say the one that knows 7 of the machines. Even that person is 30% deficient and unless they are motivated to learn more, they will always be 30% deficient. Now let's say the other person only knows 1 machine, but shows a lot of initiative to learn the other 9. So now who will realy be the most valuable?

Continue to do things that show you are interested in learning even if it means doing it on your own time. Then let the employers become aware of your enthusiasm. I think you will start to find better results in the job hunt.

My take on this is a bit different.

To me, Skiroy comes across as the egomaniac. He's told us about all the wonderful things he could be doing if not for the ignorant fools holding him back. He claims other people are stealing his good ideas and taking credit for them. He claims he can rewrite the lost ladder logic for the second hand machine that arrived with no program. He claims the outside guy who quoted $8k knows nothing about PLCs. He assigns ulterior motives to his co-workers, including sabotage.

On the whole, I'm glad I don't have to work with him.
