I think I have an idea about what is going on but I wanted to ask and see what some of you guys think.
An OEM has installed a Micrologix 1100 with 1768 series IO. One of the contacts on a level sensor is normally open and goes to a 24VDC input card. The input however will not switch but when a 8 pin, 24VDC, relay is connected the coil on it energizes fine. The 24VDC source wire is a #14 and goes to a few devices on a conduit run close to 100', passes through the contact on the sensor and back the 100' on a #16 conductor.
I'm thinking it could be a distance issue and there may be enough voltage drop to affect the PLC input but not the 8 pin relay. I haven't been on site yet (I'm leaving out early in the morning) and wanted to see if anyone has ran into this before. If anyone has any advice I am all ears.
Thanks,
