problem getting data out from RSlinx Classic via OPC

hi all

i use RSView32 as my HMI. It talks to my Flexlogic PLC via RSlinx OPC server (DA 2.05 protocol).

Now i need to get the OPC data out to 3rd party historian.

Using Matrikon OPC Explorer i tried to browse and see "live" tags - i cant be able to find the correct tags.

There's about 1000+ tags but all of them are rubbish tags

It seems that it is NOT the one which is used by my RSView32 mimic.

Notes:

1. My RSlinx version is RSlinx Classic Professional 2.5 (CPR7).
2. My RSView32 version is RSView32 Runtime 1500 7.20 (CPR 7).

I've also 2 add-ons:

- Messenger 2.12
- Trendx 3.42

Please help.

If you can look up a tag or the tag syntax, you can add them manually in OPC Explorer to figure out which syntax works. A quick and dirty method is to just add a few different tags with likely syntaxes. If one of them is correct, it'll come out and start giving you data.

I use RS Linx Classic for data collection to an OSI PI server. Have you configured an OPC topic for each PLC in Linx? In my case the tag consist of the OPC topic and the plc memory address. Here is an example (The OPC topic name is "WWTP), this is for a PLC-5

Also try browsing tags with a different OPC client, like the OPC Quick Client that comes with KepServer.
