Problem with ethernet communication micrologix

this might be a stupid question... but is your ethernet port lighting up when you plug it into the switch?

also, have you tried restarting the pc? I had mine act crazy the other day and wouldnt connect when the port was showing connected and all of the settings were correct. after a restart it worked correctly

i had the same problem before.....

it is the problem of eds file in rslinx......

download eds files from rockwell website for each module... for chasis, i/o module, ethernet device..... find the correct one..... and give a try.

it will defenetly work....

he cant ping it so it is a network problem.

or the module defaulted to a different address. If thats the case there is two ways to reset it. One is to use the boottp progam enter the MAC address on boottp this MAC should be written somehere on the micrologix. However Bootp has to be enabled on teh ethernet module. Once it shows you have a coonection on boottp you can reassign the address. he other method is probably easier and more reliable and that is to connect via the RS 232 port and reconfigure the ethernet module from there.
One test before you try any of this. Take a crossover cable with your laptop and connect directly with the ethernet module then try the PING once again bypassing any other connection points.

i connected a crossover cable to connect computer to plc and ping it and still no lock. unable to connect.

you might try changing your ip address to not being set automaticaly

Thanks to all of you guys. I am surprized to see so many people out there willing to help. problem solved, I had the wrong IP address and Subnet for my computer, and I was giving the wrong IP to ml1100.Once I corrected the info, it worked fine.
