Is the of Cable redundancy ( i.e RS-485 Communiation cable) on PROFIBUS been implemented ? Does in achieve the purpose of HOT STANDBY in case of Redundant systems? In case anybody has worked on the same do revert especially with Schneider Electric PLC's.
Thanks

I don't believe copper cable redundancy is part of the Profibus specification. You can have cable redundancy using fibre-optic cabling but for virtually all Profibus master and slaves you will still need a small copper-to-fibre-optic adapter or converter. Very few (if any) devices offer direct fibre-optic connection to the bus.
