Remote vpn router setup

I am trying to use setup a remote vpn router for external OEM connection.
The thing I cannot wrap my head around is the gateway.
We use the gateway internally to connect to the machine so setting the gateway to the vpn router isn’t an option.
Does anyone in the group know the setup procedure to do this?
I have ****, Siemens and phoenix routers so a broad range to choose from!

Example…
PLC 192.168.1.10 /24
Gateway 192.168.10.1

Router 192.168.1.11 /24
Gateway 192.168.10.1 ??

Then I assume give internet access to the router via port xx plugged into the WAN port.
Then Plug in the lan port into PLC network.

192.168.1.10/24 and 192.168.10.1 are in different subnet
The PLC has not access to the gateway

192.168.1.10/24 subnet IPs go from 192.168.1.1 to 192.169.1.254 (.255 can't be used due it's the broadcast address)

Both the PLC and router are in the same subnet
192.168.10.x /24

The gateway is usually the same router, the same router IP, which is where connections are directed to IPs outside the subnet.

But this is the configuration of the local LAN, nothing to do with the configuration of a VPN.

If that router can act as a VPN server it must have other configurations for it.
