RSLogix5000 Free App

Hi guys,

Just viewed an app a guy developed which allows you to develop all your Logix5000 code offline and import to .acd. Nice interface which includes LD, ST and FBD editor which is almost identical to RSLogix5000 V16.

Would Rockwell Software have any problems with this from a license perspective?You know how ridiculous they are when it comes to software!

I don't know why, you would still need RSLogix software to download and view running code.

Besides, they provided the ability to import code.
I used to use Excel to quickly assemble common code, then import it. What is the difference?

There's another program that you can use to develop all of you Allen-Bradley logic - doesn't matter whether it's SLC500, PLC5, or ControlLogix. It just makes a text file that you have to import into RSLogix (5,500,5000) to download into the processor.

Perhaps you've heard of it already??

It's called Notepad.

However, I've also been known to use Excel to develop ladder logic...

I have also used Excel to develop ladder logic - so there isn't much new on that front. Using Excel can be a slick way to create large numbers of similar rungs very rapidly. There are a couple of forum threads on the topic which could be found with a search.
