Well, so far, I can get it to work by rolling back to the service pack 1 on software. Won't work with SP2 or even the new SP3...
Doing some further investigation......

Is there a SP3 for WinCC Flex 2008 ?

As far as I know SP2 is the latest:

Plus, there is an update for SP2:

Anyway, that SP1 works must surely be something that Siemens support can use to pinpoint the error.

Go to Siemens site and search "43412059".
(Update 13 for flex, aka sp3?).

I see, no that is "UPD13 for SP2", not "SP3".
Notice that is what my 2nd link pointed to.
