Simatic S7-200

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I'm running into this situation myself.

I have the PC USB Adapter (6ES7 972-OCB20-0XA0) and I'm trying to communicate with an S7-200 (CPU 226XM), while using MicroWin V3.2 SP4. I'm using a Windows XP VM image to do so.

Are people able to communicate to the S7-200 while it's still at the 9600 baud rate? Seems like some people in this thread said yes, others said no? I am able to select 9.6k in the Set PG interface screen when I select PPI.

Just trying to see if I need another adapter or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Buy one of these,

Not expensive and works perfectly every time. The port on the S7-200 is an MPI port and by default it will be set to 9.6 and your USB PC Adaptor won't work at 9.6, minimum is 19.2.
Normally, whenever I go to an S7-200, first thing I do is set the ports to 19.2 straight away then if I need to go back, I always have the usb pc adaptor so not a problem to get on.
Failing that, sack the 200 off and replace it with a 1200.
Portal is now more or less stable and the 1200 range is very competitive and quite good to work with once you find your way around it.
Hope this helps
