SIMATIC S7-300 or IM 151-8 PN/DP CPU for IO link application

Hello, I am a student of Master Mechatronics and currently in my final semester writing a master thesis. My topic for the thesis is Development of a test bench to verify the IO link communication between optical sensors and S7-PLC. So now for the CPU I have two choices. One is the standard s7-300 PLC or a ET200S module - IM 151-8 PN/DP CPU integerated. I would be really grateful if someone could suggest as to which is better for my application considering the costs and functionality.

By the way I have an order list for the IM 151-8 PN/DP CPU and all the other components required. But can anyone give me the list of components needed, if I want to use S7-300 PLC with ET 200eco PN as a master. The website of siemens lists so many versions for the PLC and is difficult to judge and decide.

Any S7-300 CPU with an integral PN port can be used as the PN IO Controller (= "PN master"). There is also the possibilty to use a CP343-1 as the PN IO Controller, but there are no real advantage to do so, except if you must connect multiple PN networks that must be physically separated from each other.

But the IM151-8 will be OK. Much less expensive, and can both connect ET200S I/O modules directly, or via the PN port.
