hello friends.we have a problem about SLC remote addressing.

we have a 13 slot chasis, 505 cpu mounted on it. and another 7-slot one about 50 metres away.we want to establish a communication between them. for this, we purchased a 1747-SN (B series), and a 1747-ASB. we installed SN module to the last slot of the main chassis and the ASB module to the 1st slot of the remote chassis.
but we couldn't succeed to make them communicate each other.will you please help us.?
cables and resistors and groundings are OK.
1747-ASB configurations:
SW1: ON ON ON ON ON ON ON ON ( Logic Rack:0 Starting Group:0 )
SW2: ON ON 57.6K
ON Primary
ON allways ON
ON ON OFF ON 6 Groups

SW3: OFF dont hold last
ON AutoRestart
ON Restricted
ON not last chasis(because primary chasis cant be last one)
ON OFF 1-Slot addressing
ON Discrete
ON(OFF) first save(ON) then check(OFF)

1747-SN configurations:
SW1: ON ON 57.6 K

when we apply power LED statuses:
1747-SN: fault led:eek:ff comm led:flashing red
1747-ASB: fault led:eek:ff comm led:flashing green Display: Ade

what shall we do? do we have to write some codes into SLC? or are we making wrong DIP switch settings?
in the remote chasis we have one 16-input digital input module currently. if we can succed in this job we will install a new 16-output DO , and 8-channel Analog input module ..

we need your immediate helps....
thanks everybody

Remote I/O

You will need to configure the PLC "G" data tables.
To do this click on the IO Configuration button on RS Logix
Make sure that the Scanner Card is installed in slot 13
Double click on the card and you will see advanced data for the card.
Click "edit G data" and you will see a new window.
Click a tick into the top box, Rack 0, Group 0, then select 3/4 Rack
as you have configured the ASB as being 6 groups.
Ok this then download the program.
When you switch to run the program should communicate OK, as long as you have the ASB configured correctly.

Do you have any analog i/o in remote rack? or is it all discrete?

These cards can be a real pain to setup. Look through the manuals and if you're still having problems post some more info about the system, The types of cards, layout of cards, how you want to setup the addressing.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INTERESTS ,, FRIENDS..

I HAVE FOUND A LOT OF INFO FROM THE PLACE THAT MR. WILLIAMS HAS POINTED OUT..
I DIDNT KNOW THAT WEB PAGE BEFORE. IT HELPED ME A LOT..
I HAVE USED ONLY 2 DISCRETE MODULES..
1 DI , AND 1 DO..
AND I MADE THE CONFIGURUTION OF G FILES AND DIP SWITCH SETTINGS CORRECTLY ALSO WITH THE HELP OF "allan"..

sw1: rack:0 group:0
sw2: 57,6K complementry , and 6 groups.. ( it was primary before)
sw3: 1-slot addressing ,last chassis sw3.3 is OFF ...(it was ON then)

G file: rack:0 group:0 3/4 rack

and then it worked..
because of my SLC series dont support BTR/W commands , i couldnt test my 8-channel AI module..
if i had a 4-channel AI module i could test it in discrete mode..
but analog I/O modules which have channels more than 4 , can be accessed only in BTR mode..
i learned that version upgrade of the SLC is possible , if i purchase its kit.

i didnt know these yesterday.

thank all of you again..
have a good day........
