SLC5/04 Comunication Port

Hello,
I do not have much experience with Allen Bradley .
I have to change the program from a SLC5 / 04 and would like to use the channel 0 (DH- 485, DF1 , or ASCII) to comunication with my laptop

This channel is being used with an HMI .
My question is:
have the risk of this channel be configured any way that I can not communicate with my laptop?

That is the correct cable ( null-modem)

Do you know what protocol the serial port is configured for.

DF1 or DH485 will be no problem. If ASCII ( doubful if connected to a HMI) would be a problem.
