Use a Control Logix 1756-IB16I module as opposed to a 1756-HSC counter frequency

1756-LSC8xIB8I in addition to 8 counters provides 8 additional isolated inputs. I recall using them for direction, but if direction is not needed then can use them as general DC inputs. I don’t remember details since I did not use it for at least 10 years.
