What ISA Mnemonic is commonly used for a setpoint? My ISA 2009 reference might be outdated. Since my Studio 5000 "Equipment Module" AOI is the "TIC01", I was thinking about using an ISA compliant setpoint mnemonic.

Example:
TIT01 = Temperature Indicating Transducer No.1
TIC01 = Temperature Indicating Control

TC, TCX or TCQ = Temperature Control Quanity(Setpoint)???

I have seen QTH01 (Temperature High Alarm Setpoint) on other professional P&ID's.

Thanks for your help!

Hi I would consider Q to be a totaliser device and i dont recall ever seeing a setpoint as such for any devices on a PID (other than written words such as (setpoint=40C)

For an alarm i would expect Tagname then for alarm then L LL H or HH, such as TT56AH for high alarm

For cascade control i have seen X as the value passed between controllers

Thanks for the input,

yea, most of the time I run across (dash sp) "_SP" like TIC87_SP

TX = Temperature Unclassified (Setpoint)
TCX = temperature Control Unclassified

@idt10t_error: I like your avatar , I used to work as a support engineer with Digital VAX 11/750 and VAX 11/780 in the 80´s based on VMS (VAX Management System), what a nice time.

@widelto

Thanks, I like it too. I love the operating system even more. If you want to reminisce SIMH can emulate quite a few systems. I have Openvms 7.3 running on an MicroVAX 3900. You can run a good ol' VAX-11/780 and PDP-1 - PDP-15 too! FreeAPX has a virtual Alpha!

VSI has been put in charge of porting VMS to x86 as they hired all the DEC developers back and have a successful boot! Really close a production system.

It will be so cool, a lot of compilable x86 code out there that can run on this new system.
