Compactlogix IO Not responding

I have a Compact logix L35E and a remote B&R X20B I/O system on a plant network that was working until we had to change the IP addressing because of updates to our network systems. Since the change i get an IO not responding fault on the L35E. I can ping the B&R from the L35E network line. The subnets are the same (255.255.255.0) however the devices are now on different gateways.
L35E IP 10.7.111.51 subent 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.7.111.10
B&R IP 10.7.121.125 subnet 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.7.121.10
Not sure this is why we get the fault.Thanks for any advice on this.

change the subnets to 255:255:0:0...?

Is that connection setup as Multicast or Unicast?

Multicast connections will not route across gateways w/out further configuration on the Network end.
