RS Logix 5000 Fatal Error Message when Opening Application
Where you asked...

is this also works for v20.01
or need to have v20.03
Firstly,
You are receiving a Fatal Error while opening RSLogix 5000 v20.01. Is your error the same as the quoted Fatal Error in the other thread you first posted in? Not similar, the same?
Secondly,
The Fatal Error quoted in that other thread was specifically from opening v20.01, not v20.03. You were asking does that fix "also" work for v20.01, or do you need to have v20.03. The Repair fix that was suggested has worked for many users of v20.01, I'm sure, but it is a general fix for v20, and so much specific to any one minor version (.01, .03).
Here is the Rockwell Knowledgebase technote again which is specific to the issue quoted in the other thread (and possibly yours?)...
471207 - RSLogix 5000 v20 Fatal Error Opening or Creating projects
Access Level: TechConnect
Are you able to open that technote?
Have you attempted the Repair for RSLogix 5000 v20.01 under Windows Control Panel?
If it did not work - have you investigated whether any of the mentioned third-party software, or similar, are also installed? This is usually caused by other software interfering with the Registry and corrupting or deleting certain Rockwell Software related entries. A repair will only work if the offending software is either reconfigured, disabled or removed. A Repair may also appear to fix this issue, only for it to happen again at a later date. This is because the offending software has to do whatever it is it does to corrupt the Rockwell Software. This could be a manual or scheduled operation where the user does not realise the harm being caused.
Aside from attempting to fix or Repair v20.01...
Upgrading option...
Installing a newer minor version, such as v20.03 or v20.04, may appear to "fix" this type of error, but in reality all you are doing is uninstalling the erroneous software and installing new software which will usually not experience the same Fatal Error, unless you've cashed in all your Rockwell lucky chips! But I could not guarantee you that a newer version will not throw the same Fatal Error.
I'm not going to even look into the v20.01/.03 abyss here but I will simply, yet earnestly, say - do not upgrade from v20.01 to v20.03 in an attempt to "fix" this issue.
If upgrading, go straight to v20.04 latest, as advised. It is the most stable and compatible version for all v20 project files. I don't know for certain if RSLogix 5000 v20.04 has addressed this particular issue. You'd have to review the Release Notes, but I would imagine that this specific error will not be mentioned as a "Corrected Anomoly".
All the above is assuming you have the same Fatal Error here. Not similar, the same?
Regards,
George
