micrologic 1100

need to access micrologic 1100.
when trying to access to pull program out for future
use to save for backup I can see it in rslinx but it says
it does not recognize the processor.
does that mean I need a different driver or updated software
for the slc500 software?
This is company software and company equipment so if I need to
purchase something I can,but just need what I need.

Note I have on several occasions uploaded and downloaded with
micrologic 1000 that the company has if that helps.

What vesrion do you have (RSLogix). Mine is 8.00.00 (CPR9). Can you see it in RSLinx?

1100 is Ethernet connected. just make sure the IP address and subnet in your computer are set to that of the processor and it should pop right up in linx using ethernet/IP driver

If you have an older version of RSLinx, it may not have the ability to recognize a newer processor like the ML1100. You can probably install the EDS file for the processor and get Linx to see it.

Not necessarily. There's no mention that he's connected over Ethernet. He could be connecting with a PM cable.

In any case, it may just be that he doesn't have an EDS file for the ML1100.

Your absolutely correct. After rereading I see that he does see it but has an out of date EDS sheet or earlier Linx version.

version of rslogic is 6.3 and rslinx is 2.43.
What is a eds file?
I connected over the 232 cable I use for the micrologic
1000 and it saw it.

The correct answer is above in this thread; your RSLogix 500 version 6.3 (released August 2004) will not work with this MicroLogix 1100 controller.

The only thing you need to purchase is a TechConnect contract, if you do not already have one, in order to be eligible to download the current release of RSLogix 500 and RSLinx Classic software.

An update is an update for your RS Logix 500. My suggestion is get a Tech Support package from your local AB rep. Since you already have an exisiting copy of RS Logix then this is the most cost effective route.
EDS is the file that RS Linxs uses to see various PLC's online.

This too can be upgraded thru your AB rep.
