I had install the LM90 Serial Software for GE Fanuc 9030 PLC on Windows 98 O.S. My IBM laptop do not have serial port com, It has USB port only. What i did is to install USB to serial converter, I go to the control panel/Device manager and configure it as com1.
To run this LM90 programmer you must go to DOS PROMPT. When I set up the the software to cummunicate with the PLC a warning message is displayed "CONFIGURED PORT IS NOT AVAILABLE".
I would like to clarify if the DOS environment can not recognize the port I Set up on the windows system. Any information is highly appreciated. thank you

Lm90 can run in win98/2k/xp window

Lm90 can run in win98/2k/xp window
so the USB problem in dos is ofcourse not nessesary

Jonas lets make sure the facts are understood

LogicMaster 90, other wise know as LM90, is a dos based program created to program the GE Fanuc 90 series plc.

Note I said DOS BASED.

GE doesnt support it for use with XP... could be because XP doesnt have a dos base.

Many people manage to get LM90 working under different environments in different ways.

I quit using it when I got VersaPro but have it loaded on this laptop as I speak. I have never seen LM90 run in anything but a dos window, it is dos based, so your statement has me confused.

Lm90 can run in win98/2k/xp window so the USB problem in dos is ofcourse not nessesary

Would you be kind enough to share why a dos based program running in any environment would NOT have an issue with USB or any port besides serial. Please offer specific details.

I am running LM90 with XP and a USB serial port successfully. Right click on the program file and set it up to run in a DOS box. The only problem I have is it only runs on half the screen but apart from that I have not had a problem. Got me out of trouble without having to spend lots on Versa Pro.

BobO if you go to Windows Explorer and right click the LM90 exe file then goto Properties then the Screen tab, you can set it for full screen. Sometimes you have to adjust the font to make it actually use the full screen.

I didnt attempt to use lm90 with the XP laptop I had, I got VersaPro.
