I am at a site with a really old Modicon, and am curious
as to its vintage.

Sadly, I didnt write down near enough information.

It is a rack-sorta looking thing, about the size of an
AB 1771-12 slot, with 8-10 modules, cream colored, with
a recent replacement module more grey in color.

Attached is a hand-held terminal, with a number like 310 or 320
on it. It has a numeric keypad, and an LCD screen with pre-printed
matrix of some sort on the screen. There is a little 'run-stop'
keyswitch on the front lower case.

It is attached to the processor with what looks like a
wide telephone cord, and RJ type connectors (i think).

There's for sure an ..84 in the model, might be a micro 84??

QUESTION:
What is this puppy (or the terminal), and does ProWork32 support it?

How many speakers do you have hooked up to that thing?

Call Schneider at 1-800-565-6699.

After you replace it, can I have it?

I think there is still one of those exact models on the moon. PC's did not exist when that guy was made. You may have to use a 'transducer' and Vibroplex.

Can I have it, please!

Johnny

Yes, what you have is a Micro 84.
No, ProWORX 32 does not program it.

As Johnny said, personal computers as PLC programming equipment were not common when this was new. Hand-held was the only cost effective method way back then.

This probably dates back to the early/mid 1980's.

What is your 'quest' here, Jeff?

IOW, there's only 72 I/O, and this is an OLD unit (read: not much memory). The program can't be all that large. Fire up the hand-held and a legal pad, and start writing... ;)

Johhny the first commercial PLC was the 084. The first practical one was the 184. The Micro 84 came later when people wanted smaller systems. It is about the same age as the PLC2 family.

For history buffs History of PLC.
