s7-200 communication

i want to connect s7-300 with s7-200 for simple data exchange in a network at 19.2kb. i must use xget and xput.i have an ppi/cable for s7-200 cpu-224 and a serial mpi/dp adapter for s7-300.
i would not like to use profibus so to reduce the cost.
can anyone give me something to start.

I suggest you download the following manual from Siemens:

They show a sample configuration (pages 25-27)for MPI communications between a S7-300 and S7-200, using XPut and XGet functions. No need for PPI or MPI converters, a straight MPI or Profibus cable/connectors will do the job.
