PanelView Plus 600 DF1 to SLC5/03 cable

Does anyone know if it is detrimental to use a FULL straight through cable to connect these two. I know that the AB cable does not carry pin 9 across. I would like to use a standard 9 pin extention cable but I am curious if the pin 9 connection is detrimental.
