Good day,

I would like help on communicating my compactlogix plc to a DCS (i haven't got what devices are connected to the DCS i just know that they are using rockwell controlnet for their I/O communications.)

1. Can my Controllogix PLC be controlled by the DCS if i use their controlnet?
2. How can i connect my 1769-L35CR to their DCS (this is my first project regarding AB PLC and also controlnet communication.) I have read that 1769-L35CR has a built in controlnet port do i connect the rj45 port of the 1769-L35CR to their controlnet directly i have no idea on how to connect to a controlnet.
3. Please check if i can connect with controlnet using this:
1769-PA2 1 Pc.
1769-L35CR 1 Pc.
1769-IQ32 1 Pc.
1769-IQ16 1 Pc.
1769-OB32 2 Pcs.
1769-IF8 1 Pc.
1768-CP 1 Pc.

Thanks in advance for those who will answer my question and sorry for being so noob with controlnet.

1. The CNet connected DCS system could(theoretically)read/write from/to tags within the CompactLogix tag database; these tags could be provided with "decision making" attributes via implemented RSL5K application code; so the answer will be : Kinda!- The CompactLogix CPU will still be the system master, however, the DCS SSV implemented "decisions" could go pretty deep and eventually "alter the CPU's autonomy".
2. Acquire the RSNetWorx for ControlNet software, the existing DCS ControlNet networking RSNetWorx for CNet application file and add a new node which will represent your L35CR CPU CNet port; download the new application file to the existing CNet network Scanner; connect the DCS's CNet coax media to the CompactLogix's CNet port and then make sure it is being "seen" by the Online RSNetWorx for ControlNet software; if the existing network is "Scheduled" you will have to accomodate the L35CR addition by "Re-Scheduling" of the network (since it is a DCS type connectivity, chances are you are not dealing with an "Unscheduled" type network which does not require re-scheduling for any network edits).
Once the L35CR is "live" on the network and "Scheduled" within the Scanner's Scanlist, you will be able to Produce/Consume (I/O Class data transfer) between the DCS system and the CompactLogix tag database or you could "explicitly" ( DCS application coded or RSL5K MSGing)interchange data.
