I am trying to use the 4-20 mA signals from a device whose user manual says that it outputs "isolated 4-20 mA". I only have spare PLC inputs in a 1734-IE4C. This is for Non Isolated analog signals according to its manual. i decided to try it anyway. I wired from the "+" device mA to the card, and from the "-" device mA into my 0 VDC common in the electrical control cabinet. This 0 VDC common is not grounded, in case this matters. I do see some values in the PLC around 4.3 mA but I know it should be reading more like 15 mA right now. Can this be because 1734-IE4C is a non isolated input card? Can I make it work somehow? Do I need to buy another card (that is for isolated signals) and if so which one? (I tried googling it but didn't come up with anything, I'm new to Point IO). Thanks in advance!
