Automatic OS update of operator panel

You can create an image to flashcard, and restore an image from flashcard.
But you cannot load a modified runtime this way.
For the xPx77 panels you have to have an online connection to load a runtime.

You can use the PC/PPI cable to load the runtime and/or update the OS on the panel.
It is right there in the screenshot you sent from the Set PG/PC Interface utility.

edit: And, you can even use the backtransfer function in WinCC Flexible to load the archived project file, if it exists.

Hello Guys,


I am getting this error when trying to backup using Prosave with the USB host-host cable.


I tried using the PC/PPI cable but the HMI is powered on the RS485 port with PLC. So if I disconnect and connect my laptop using PC/PPI cable the HMI doesn't turn on.

In the other thread was posted a link to the manual for USB host to host interface.
If you read that you would find that only a few adapters are supported, and the one you have is not one of them.

The TP177B has a separate 24V power supply plug. It should not turn off because you remove the RS485 cable.

Hello guys,


I finally did the backup of the project and then transfer my new project using WinCC Flex 2005 and also Prosave V7.3
(I didn't have to update the OS on HMI)


I used USB host to host cable by Plugable which is available on Amazon.


IDK why it wasn't working when I tried the same cable with Prosave V7.4
