Hi All,

I'm a total newb, so be gentle.

Does anyone know what is the equivalent amount of bits to Allen Bradley packets?

I was looking up a technical data sheet for a 1756 ENBT Etherrnet module to assess it's comms traffic capacity as I had an issue on a customer site. The data sheet stated the module had a Packet Rate Capacity of 5000 packets/second for I/O and 900 packets/second for HMI (see Table 3 at: http://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/td/1756-td003_-en-e.pdf).

Comms isn't my strong suit (but I'm trying to learn). Any insight/info/learning is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
JB

I don't think it's very useful to think about the theoretical output. It does you little good in practical application. To really get a better understanding of how ethernet works, i would look into the CISCO courses, a lot of free material on youtube, etc.

for Etherenet/IP, get the Rockwell's capacity tool:
