Single Phase VFD

sharks,

Here is a link to a thread where someone else is asking the same question.

Is there a reason you need to use a single phase motor? There are VFD's that convert single phase power to three phase. and three phase motors are almost always cheaper.

Here is a link to a single phase input three phase out drive

One is for 120 volt single phase input 230 volt three phase output 1 hp the other is for a 240 volt single phase input 240 volt three phase out @ 1 hp.

Edit: For some reason my automation direct links don't work, you will have to get there on your own!

Look at these guys. you need to make sure that the motor you have can be driven by this drive. Some single phase motors can't. But this may be an option.

However, I also think you would be better off in the long run replacing the single phase motor with a three phase motor and using a drive to control that. If you are stuck with 120 VAC single phase supply milldrone gave you some options. there are others also.

Thanks for the suggessions, But the problem is that we are already using three phase motors, but now there is a requirement of one phase motor for one of our client. We have already installed the three phase motors. But now I can't find a VFD for a single phase motor. If there is any VFD whose output is single phase please give me some link, or is it possible to convert the output of a three phase VFD into single phase.

Hi Sharks,

Maybe your cliente doesn´t mind to have a 3 phase motor. Maybe the problem is that he doesn´t have 3 Phase power. If this is the case, it is better to supply a 3 phase motor connected to a single phase VFD. Single phase input / 3 phase output VFD are not expensive and easy to find.
