Hi there,
I am doing a site survey for an older plant which my company has started working with. There are mutliple different PLC's around the site, all installed back 15/20 years ago.
I was able to get online, take a backup and compare the offline/online logic on 2 SLC 5/05's on the site. I then went to a different panel with the same model PLC and RSLinx could not connect to the PLC. The RSWho window shows a Comm error 00000005 for the PLC.
When trying to auto-configure every baud rate is tested but eventually fails to configure. I am using the correct Comm Port and the SLC-CH0 Device. I have tried manually inputting the configuration but to no avail.
I have tried reconfiguring the drivers, restarting machine, RSLinx client etc... and still no joy. Has anyone ever experienced power leaking from the RS-232 port on the SLC 5/05? I'm only thinking this as RSLinx/RSLogix has crashed a few times when trying to connect, which I find to be very rare as they are quite reliable softwares.
If anyone has any suggestions for a solution it would be greatly appreciated. I cannot connect via ethernet driver. Could connecting via 1747-UIC solve this issue?
Any help would be great, thanks!
