OK, I have a client that is 1/2 across the country and I can remote run over the internet fine if the PLC is the DMZ.
But thats kinda like a giant hole for trouble.

What ports do I really need to open up, and are they TCP or UDP?

Thaks,
Dave

Ports are Port 2222 and Port 44818.
You can confirm by connecting to the ethernet device locally, and from the Command Prompt use the NETSTAT command
