I have a small dh485 network consisting of a slc504 and ml1200. I need to make changes but with out a real serial port on my laptop I have no way to make these changes. I do have a slc505 and have converted the 504 program to 505 and swoped the processors, downloaded the program to the 505 and changed s34.0 and s34.5 to 0 for dh485 pass thru but I'm still not able to see the ml1200. What have I missed?
Thanks for your help

No usb to dh485 only the 505. Still trying to get the pass thru working. Do I need to set something in the routing table?

What I am saying is if your laptop dont have a real serial port then use USB port.
Anyway were you connecting 04 to ML1200 by the D-9 pin port? or the rounded port? If you were using 9 pin D-SUB, it's DH485, but 5/05 only have RS-232, you would need a converter like 1761-NET-AIC

Have you confirmed that the DH485 connection between the 5/05 and 1400 is working? Are the LED's on the aic's showing communications?

No. I don't think it is working. Without a real serial port or a usb-dh485 converter I have no way of talking to it other than the 505 witch isn't working for now

So in the routing table in need to add the computer sip adress then download the program and I should be able to see the dh485 network? Thank Ian
How have you been?

Yeah, good mate, been busy with work (at work and at home :))

You know the site we used to work at has new owners and a new plant will be running there soon..

I added the ipad adress of my laptop into the routing table and downloaded it to the processor but I'm still not able to see the dh485 network. What else can I try. Thanks all
