In reference to this thread today I have to install some more C55 contactors with # 4 wire but the wire is standard MTW and will not fit with a ferrule. I though surely that would fit with not issues.

Why would # 4 MTW with a ferrule not fit?
 
Did you crimp the ferrule before trying to insert it into the terminal? Some people try to use the contact to compress the ferrule around the wire; that's typically a bad idea. A crimped ferrule should fit.
