If the price is right, I will definitely be using these panels. I never used the membrane buttons on the side anyway (although they were perfect for one project I did).
The optional I/O might come in handy too. Perfect when you need a few more analogs than the PLC supports. I could also see using it for the I/O that is local to the HMI, like PBs, switches, and status lights. Less cabling from the PLC to the HMI...
I love the mounting mechanism. Hole alignment has always been an issue when we are doing a panel with a g3. I also like the change to the soft keys. No plastic to wear out and crack to let water in anymore. I never used them either. The only one I would use is yhe menu button and create a pop-up.
I wish they had a strain guage input card like the dsp. And I never noticed that the pod module had an autotune function until now. That would sure beat manually tuning the pid loops in rslogix.
I love it, but I doubt that it would be cost effective against the g3 for my applications. Also, couldn't find any info on the actual viewable area of the screens.
They look pretty nice and I have an upcoming app with a bunch of analog and thermocouples. My rep should have pricing soon.
On a side note: I installed the new build, 573.001, then updated a G306A000 and none of the screen buttons worked anymore. The soft keys worked and the indicator lights on the screen worked. No buttons at all.
Anyone else have this issue?
I went back to 548.001 and everything is cool again.
