Can S7 software be used to access an S5 PLC ?

I have an S5 95U PLC with a pair of 16DI 16DO expansion units that I don't want to part with. I have access to S7 software but at a glance it did not look as though it would work with S5 PLCs

No, Step7 does not work with S5.

Let the S5's go -- they're obsolete

Yes, forgot abt this over 20yrs technology and goto S7, S5 is like 80's motorola brick phone.
