Maple Systems and Compactlogix

Got a new customer recently that uses Maple System HMI's and CompactLogix L303ER controller

I did not do the original programing of this system. They were not happy with the previous company and hired us.

I have inserted a new rung in the controller that has a new tag associated with it. The tag was created in the controller using "User-Defined Tags".

I cannot get the Maple Systems Ezwareplus programming software to get a new set of tag information from the PLC. When I tell the EZWare to "Get Tag Info..." in System Parameters. the Windows spinner for Windows 10 just spins. And then after about a min. the system says "not Responding".

I did the same thing from 2 different computers at the customers location.

Anyone have any suggestions.

Anyone? Hopefully someone has used Maple Systems EzwarePlus with RSLogix 5000 and CompactLogix.

Could use any sugestions.

Can you get a Wireshark trace to try to figure out what can be going on?

Yes, but what would I be looking for. To my knowledge, the Ezware software only ask for IP address of PLC. I don't see any place in either software for a port number to talk on. Personally, I think there is a port number issue but at this point I don't know enough about either software to make that call.

The EtherNet/IP decoder add-in for Wireshark is very detailed. If the request to the CompactLogix has some syntax issues, the error reply as seen through the Wireshark decoder may (and I emphasize, just may) provide useful information. Since I have no experience with Ezware, all I can advice is trying to dig a bit deeper through Wireshark.

Importing tags into Maple instead of looking at "live" tags should work.

passwordg is correct, you must export the tags out of the PLC program and then import them into the EzWarePlus.
