Got a customer with a Chinese air compressor, 240V, 15HP.

The present control of the entire system is inside their VFD. It controls the motor speed and oil injection to compress with an analog pressure sensor input, along with the buttons and a small display pad.

Bad tech support and a timed shutdown for maintenance that is really too soon and the customer wants to know if I can replace it with a A-B PowerFlex I have on the shelf and make my own control.

Has anyone here built a compressor control panel for a rotary screw compressor?

Am I in for a nightmare or could this be simple?

A small PLC and a small HMI, used an Idec system in a class a few years ago with a small HMI I think would be perfect if this is possible.

EDIT: Forgive all the typos, my adult fingers and these phone keyboards don't get along

Easy set up.

If you've got a small plc that can run a basic pid loop, an a couple of outputs for oil injection based on hours run. No problem.
