Is there a USB replacement for the 1784-PCMK/B that can still do all three (DH+, RIO, DH485) and utilize all the same connection cables I have for the PCMK? I see the one just for DH485 but can't find one that supports them all.

I doubt you can use the existing cable

Only option I know for DH+ is 1784-U2DHP - which is an interface from USB to DH+

No Rockwell sells three different USB Comm adapters. One for DH+, CN and DN. I don't think there is one for RIO.

Thanks guys. I suspected as much but figured I would ask anyhow. Hopefully I will be able to get my PCMK card to to work with my VM and it won't be an issue.

If you don't have luck with the PCMK I can cover a few of the cables... USB to DH+ , RS232 and DH485

There has been talk on here (PLCTalk.net) about PCMK cards and getting them to work so you may want to search

Don't expect to get the PCMK to work in a VM. Both Microsoft and VMware virtualization products do not allow the use of PCMCIA adapters.

Maybe some of the other virtualization products can, but the big ones don't. I still use the old KFD using a USB/serial adapter on my laptop. Works perfectly in my VMs.

But as for DH+ and DH485....two different USB adapters to replace the one PCMK card.

OG

What exactly does the PCMK support in terms of RIO?? It's printed on the front of my card, but like, what could i do with it RIO wise.

(Stupid question???)

The only way I've heard to get the PCMK to work with a VM is to install Linx Gateway on the host and then attach to the Gateway from the VM. I haven't tried this BTW.

Do a search for other threads on this topic, it has been discused much in the past. As far as I know, no one has gotten a USB to PCMCIA adapter to work with a PCMK card.

I made the mistake of powering up my laptop with the PCMK card in. Literally crashed on boot. I think I will just go ahead and get the dedicated USB cables and be done with it.

Has anyone had good luck with Genius's cables?
Is there a DH+ solution that doesn't involve applying for a mortgage?

There are some things I have a hard time wrapping my head around. The fact that a DH+ adapter is more expensive than most of the computers they are actually connected to is one of them.
