Environment:
VMware Workstation 10
Host: Windows 8.1pro 64bit
Guest: Windows 7pro SP1 64bit
Network adapter is set to VMnet0 Bridged
BOOTP version 2.3.2.0 (what installs with studio 5000 ver.23)

Today when trying to set the IP address of a 20-COMM-E I could not "Disable BOOTP/DHCP" I could see the adapter in the Request History and I could add it to the Relation List. Fired up the old XP laptop and was able to Disable BOOTP...Am I missing something in the VMware setup? firewall issue?

Thanks

I've never had much luck with disabling BOOTP from the RA utility on Windows 7. Like you, I can give it an IP address, but that's about it. From there I have to use RSLinx or the web browser interface to disable BOOTP

Bear in mind too, that even though it is a virtual machine and you have used bridged networking, your host O/S and network adapter can still get in the way. It isn't truly isolated.

I occasionally run into issues with the host O/S firewall preventing me from doing things in my VM. Since corporate IT won't allow me to disable the firewall or even add exceptions, certain things I should be able to do in the VM get blocked by the host.

That's the issue VMs running on top of a host O/S still are faced with unless there is just a minimal hypervisor "host O/S" (aka "bare metal") involved.
