Omron offers an "industrial grade" memory card for their NS terminals, (thermal-shock-proof and vibration resistant) but for a single firmware upgrade it's an unnecessary expense, so I want to buy an "ordinary" one. Can anyone tell me whether it's just a compact flash type? (They specify >30Mb). Thanks, Steve.

Yes it is a standard one. Most important thing is that it is FAT16 formatted, not to mistake with the "FAT" format option in XP.
I believe all new CF cards are standard shipped FAT16, and otherwise old digicams can also format FAT16.

Bu if you just use a off the shelf CF card and never format it you should be ok. I use Transcend 128 Mb.

Hope this helps.
